I have two old-school typewriters at home. A pre-war Royal Portable. It’s piano black with round, glass-covered keys, and is quite fetching. It’s been in the family since purchase (I have the original warranty card). I also have another portable typewriter that was likely a post-war transition. It’s painted navy grey and has rounded rectangle glass-covered keys.
This keyboard—USB for a modern computer—reminds me of that old typewriter. It has the piano black top and round keys (but instead of glass, it’s acrylic). Like my old typewriter, this keyboard has a tactile, or “clicky” feel. Unlike my old typewriter, it includes a “1” key and will plug into any PC.
A blast from the past. A nostalgic classic reborn with modern innovations. A timeless design fit for composing literary masterpieces. Introducing the Azio MK Retro, a typewriter inspired mechanical keyboard.
